We are deeply & personally affected by the passing of our friend Chelsea Faith in the Oakland warehouse fire on December 2, 2016. In her memory, we’d like to share an expansive mix from April 2015, when she hosted Dave on her radio show on KALX Berkeley. We would encourage you to spend time with her radio archives where you’ll find a series of themed shows that she carefully curated. We’re extremely privileged to have a guest mix from SF’s Jason Douglas! JD is a relentless digger (and finder) of amazing jams of all eras. His DJ trajectory – starting in 1992 – from Dallas to SF has seen him in the business of used vinyl online (vinyldj.com), production (highly sought-after deep house 12″s from The Attendants), and curation (with Matt Holland) of the monthly Deep Crates club night celebrating the various corners of dance music history, and SF’s powerful vinyl selectors. We are exceptionally thankful for this mix, as not only is it packed full of the deepest Italo, it’s likely his last before relocating to Portland! This slow builder comes in with some quirky 80s dance tracks and spaced-out disco (including one of the best Italo tracks we’ve ever heard), moving into Chicago’s mid-90s deep house sound before the dub techno rinse-out. Check out the new shimmering Newworldaquarium remix and two killer tracks on the Laid label from Lawrence and Kassem Mosse. This one’s extra long to give those tracks some breathing room. -David

With the controls of the Sonic Sunset space-time cruiser set on “random”, Dave pilots through retro-future analog visions, emerging out onto As One’s lush, blue-skied terrain.  Our cruising velocity throttles only slightly, guiding the ship into Plant43’s landing electro-bass, followed by a moody take-off that smoothly banks left into the evening stars.  Cool strings from Strictly Rhythm circa 1991, Aroy Dee’s abstract jack coolness with Peel Seamus, and advanced hybrid sounds from Martyn anchor the journey!
