Hi and thanks to everyone who’s been listening, keeping us in mind, and spreading the word!  Last year at around this time, we were honored to be asked to play an extended tag-team set at a special outdoor event called Plunge. We owe the event organizers and its music coordinators a huge thanks for the opportunity to stretch out musically for 3 hours — just like we did every Friday night on our FM radio show — as the sun went down over a gorgeous northern California setting.  Thankfully, the set was recorded, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed presenting it.  — Matt & David

Northland Roller Rink, Detroit

Matt takes a 2 hour journey from chilled post-punk, slow-mo disco, post-dub remixes and post-bourbon crate digging.  Slower tempos then building, some favorites from 2008 including Osborne, Nite Jewel, Windsurf and a superfunky Hot Coins slab… plus Detroit techno and Chicago house records all jacked up.

Part 1> Alternate soundtrack to a 1983 film about a spaceman stranded in Harlem, expressed with soul, electronic funk & boogie, and winds up with a few beautifully synthesized italo disco anthems from the same era.

Part 2> A melding of 80s styles with current Chicago/Detroit-influenced goodness floats away into lush ambience and two cello-based moods, followed by a late-summer house wind-down into dubbed-out sounds and 90s hypnotic minimalism. Notable new slabs from Pan Sonic, Sven Weisemann, and a hot re-issue of extra-rare old-school Chicago deepness from Joe Lewis.
