Part 1 > Riding a summer edge where moody techno meets house: Beautifully arranged electronics from Morgan Geist & Titonton rolls into a cool Mark Pritchard remix in a broken/midtempo flavor, and a seminal remix by Charles Webster of UK’s Hot Lizard. Fazed-out funk from Random Factor with gorgeous chord change-ups keeps house interesting, and a classic by R-Tyme from Detroit’s Music Institute days.

Part 2 > orchestral strings upstage their synthetic counterparts on deep techno from rene et gaston, which gets locked into a global communication idm classic. a jump back in time brings chicago’s tyree out for an industrial-tinged acid flashback, and we ride the night out with more uptempo melodic techno from aril brikha, carl craig, and kenny larkin (remixed by luke slater).

Part 1 > House, disco & boogie electrons crisscross the circuit from Detroit/Minneapolis/NYC/Chicago. New Moodymann, Prince’s floor burner freakout into synthy boogie dub from Aurra, and an emotional wrencher from Herbie Hancock. NYC brings the heavies: Arthur Russell as Dinosaur L, Patrick Adams’ Universal Robot Band on the moog-disco tip, and Pal Joey warms up sample house as only he can. But Roy Ayers reminds us its all about Chicago, Chicago!

Part 2 > derrick carter provides the vocals to continue matt’s old school vibe, and we leap forward in time with hypnotic bites from aroy dee as well as the gadgets crew and the one and only black dog. the feel softens further with less-heard music from juan atkins, and darkens courtesy of germany’s k2 O and vibrant labels, leaving off with autechre doing tri-repetae-style remix honors for seefeel.

Part 1 > starts in a slow-n-low basement party groove and takes time to explore classic synth-funk and boogie styles (check: I’m Out To Catch!) into brilliant new depths from Metro Area, new ultra-synthetic disco from Carlos Hernandez on a split 12\” w/ Danny Wang, rubbery funk on an excellent Random Factor 12\”, and warm analog italo-techno from Francisco on Pigna.

Part 2 > goes on a more deliberate blue-out Detroit sound excursion, from raw 313-style loft house, to deep new Techno soul from UR, and winding down to a Rotating Assembly / Moodymann drive up Gratiot on a steamy June night. New slabs from DJ Minx, Perception, and Ferris Park too.
